The X-LAB MT5 is a carbon hardtail mountain bike built for riders who want a lightweight, capable platform without stepping into full suspension territory. Finished in Glacier Blue, the MT5 combines a full carbon frame with a modern Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain and a wide range wheel and tyre setup, delivering genuine trail performance at an impressively low 11.39kg.
Lightweight Carbon Platform
At the heart of the MT5 is a full carbon frame, paired with a Branta magnesium suspension fork featuring an air spring and adjustable rebound. The fork offers 100mm of travel for 27.5" wheel configurations or 120mm of travel for 29" setups, smoothing out trail chatter and small impacts while keeping the front end responsive. A Branta carbon seatpost and fully integrated carbon stem, available in 65, 75, or 85mm lengths with a 760mm wide handlebar, complete a lightweight, race ready cockpit.
Shimano Deore 12-Speed Precision
The MT5 runs a Shimano Deore RD-M6100-SGS rear derailleur, controlled through a Shimano Deore SW-M6100-R shifter, giving riders smooth, reliable 12-speed shifting across technical terrain. A wide range CS-M9012 11-50T cassette provides genuine climbing gears alongside strong top end speed, while the Branta aluminium crankset (170mm, 34T) features a narrow wide tooth profile to help keep the chain secure over rough ground.
Confident Stopping Power
Braking comes from Branta C5Pro hydraulic brakes with 2-piston calipers, paired with Branta steel rotors (180mm front, 160mm rear) for strong, consistent stopping power when the trail gets technical. This setup gives riders the confidence to push harder on descents, knowing the brakes will deliver reliable control when it counts.
