The Magene EXAR DB45 Pro is a lightweight HI-MOD carbon disc brake wheelset for riders who want sharper acceleration, stable handling, and an aerodynamic edge without a huge price tag. At 1410g for the pair, with a 45mm rim depth and a wide 27mm external profile, it's built for fast road riding, long endurance days, and everything in between. This version comes with a standard Shimano HG freehub, ready for Shimano and SRAM 8 to 12 speed cassettes.

HI-MOD Carbon, Built Stiff and Light

EXAR Pro rims are made from HI-MOD carbon fibre, with the materials and structure optimised to cut weight while keeping the rim, spokes, and hub stiff. Automatic carbon fibre winding pre-stresses the fibre so it lies straighter and carries load more evenly, which supports consistent stiffness from wheelset to wheelset. The lighter rotating weight helps with climbing and sprinting, and the wheels have passed UCI impact testing.

Wider Rim for Better Aerodynamics

The rim has a 27mm external and 20mm internal width. The wider profile creates a flatter aerodynamic surface with 25c and 28c tyres, helping reduce air resistance, and it supports tyres from 25c upward, with 28c to 32c suggested. Both clincher and tubeless tyres are compatible, and tubeless rim tape comes factory installed.

Balanced Spoke Tension for Stable Handling

Disc brake wheels use a symmetric rim design with an optimised flange width, so spoke tension on both sides stays close to equal. A 2:1 balanced lacing pattern spreads tension sensibly and improves pedalling stiffness. The front wheel uses 21 spokes and the rear uses 24, all Pillar Wing21 flat spokes, which help with aerodynamics and drive stiffness. Self locking nipples keep spokes tight, and the rear drive side spokes are tensioned to 120kgf (plus or minus 10%) for a vigorous, powerful feel under power.

Hubs Made for Power Transfer

A 36 tooth flat engagement ratchet gives fast, precise engagement and a more even freewheel sound, with a larger contact surface for durability. The rear hub has been engineered, with FEA technology and testing, to be light and strong, and the larger drive side flange lines the spokes up with the torque direction to improve driving efficiency. The ratchet is compatible with the DT system, so replacement ratchets are easy to source.

Wide Drivetrain Compatibility

The standard Shimano 11 speed freehub accepts Shimano 8 to 12 speed and SRAM 8 to 12 speed cassettes (SRAM 12 speed needs a separate XDR freehub). Campagnolo N3W and SRAM XDR freehubs are available separately for riders who want to change drivetrain. The wheelset uses Center Lock disc rotors and a 100/142mm thru axle (100/135mm quick release options are available separately).
