Choosing Your Wheel Mounts

Every rack comes with wheel mounts to suit your bikes. The standard Hoop and Taco setup suits wheels from 20 inch (BMX size) right up to full sized road and MTB wheels, holding tyres up to 3 inches wide, making it the right choice for most road, MTB, hybrid, and kids' bikes. If you're carrying fat tyre bikes, the Fat Bike wheel hoop is designed for tyres from 3 to 6 inches wide. Running a mix of bike types? Fitting Guide

Finding the Right Mount for Your Caravan

Every caravan or camper trailer has a slightly different drawbar layout, so GripSport racks are designed to be fitted using the mounting option that best suits your setup.

Mounting posts are available in tall, short, and quick release styles, with tall posts available in 849mm, 754mm, 664mm, or 574mm heights. The tall option is the most popular choice, as it allows the rack to sit up and over common gas bottles, toolboxes, and spare tyre fittings, keeping your bikes clear of existing accessories. Shorter posts suit caravans with less obstruction around the A-frame, or where a lower rack position is preferred. 

Fitting to Your Existing Cross Member

If your caravan already has a suitable cross member fitted to the drawbar, the rack can generally be mounted directly using GripSport's Bolt-On Mount, which includes a vertical post, the Bolt-On Mount, and two saddles with bolts, without the need for welding. 

If your drawbar doesn't currently have a cross member, or your existing one isn't suitable, you have two options. GripSport's Universal Cross Member (UCM) is a bolt-on solution for mounting a bike rack to your drawbar without welding, designed for straightforward DIY installation. If other fittings such as jockey wheels, stone guards, or gas bottle covers are obstructing the mount, these may need to be relocated, or a Custom Cross Member (CCM) fitted instead, which most authorised GripSport dealers and fitters can arrange for you. Alternatively, if you prefer to source your own steel, a 50x75mm or 50x100mm rectangular hollow section (RHS) with a minimum 3mm wall thickness can be used to fabricate a cross member.
